Daytona Beach offers year-round golf with ocean breezes moderating coastal heat. Winter and spring are peak season. Summer afternoon thunderstorms require flexible scheduling. LPGA International courses are a major draw.
In Daytona Beach, the single most important tee-time decision isn't which course to play — it's what time you tee off. From June through September, afternoon thunderstorms are practically a daily event, with precip days climbing from 25 in June to a peak of 28 in August. Book a morning slot during those months or plan to watch lightning from the clubhouse.
The rest of the year is more forgiving, but not without its own quirks. Winter winds average 11.8 mph in January and peak at 12.4 mph in March and April — consistently above the 8 mph calm threshold that keeps approach shots predictable. Temperatures are genuinely comfortable from November through April, with highs running 68–79°F, but you'll want to layer up for early tee times when January lows dip to 53°F.
March and April are the windiest months of the year at 12.4 mph average peak wind, which will push shots around on exposed coastal layouts. Highs reach 76–79°F — comfortable, but precip days climb to 12 in March and 14 in April, so afternoon rounds increasingly carry rain risk. Morning slots are the safer call by late April.
July and August average highs of 88°F with lows of 75–76°F, and the Atlantic humidity makes it feel heavier than the numbers suggest. Precip days hit 27 in July and 28 in August, nearly every other afternoon bringing a storm. The one silver lining: winds are actually their calmest all year, averaging just 9.1 mph in July — if you can finish before noon.
September still carries summer's storm frequency at 25 precip days, so mornings remain essential. By October, precip days drop to 18 and highs moderate to 81°F, making afternoon rounds viable again. November is a genuine sweet spot — 14 precip days, 75°F highs, and winds easing to 11.4 mph.
January is the driest month with only 10 precip days and highs of 68°F — squarely in the site's ideal 60–80°F range. Lows fall to 53°F, so early morning rounds in December and January call for a light jacket. Winds sit at 10.9–11.8 mph through winter, meaning a calm, flat day is the exception rather than the rule.
January leads the year with just 10 precip days and a 68°F average high, giving golfers the most weather-stable window. November and December are close behind at 14 and 11 precip days respectively, with comfortable highs of 75°F and 72°F. February adds a bit more rain (12 days) but stays in the ideal temperature range and has the season's widest daily swing — 16°F — rewarding golfers who time their rounds right.
Morning is strongly preferred from June through September. Precip days average 25–28 per month during that stretch, with storms typically building in the early afternoon. Teeing off at 7–8 a.m. gives you the best chance of finishing before the lightning arrives.
August is the wettest month with 28 precip days, followed by July at 27 and June and September both at 25. That four-month window accounts for the bulk of Daytona Beach's annual rainfall, making flexible scheduling — or morning-only bookings — essentially mandatory.
Wind is a factor in every month. Peak winds average 12.4 mph in March and April — the windiest stretch — and never drop below 9.1 mph even in the calmest month (July). Courses near the coast or the Halifax River corridor tend to feel the full effect, so factor in at least one extra club on approach shots year-round.
