Short answer: light rain is playable with the right gear. Steady rain makes scoring much harder. Lightning or heavy rain means stop immediately. Our score scales the rain penalty with both probability and how hard it is actually falling — a 100% chance of a trace of drizzle costs far less than a downpour from playability.

Stop for lightning immediately — no round is worth it. Heavy rain that pools on greens is also a stop signal; casual water rules make play slow and scoring essentially random. Our playability score weighs rain probability together with rainfall intensity and how wet the ground already is, which typically pushes any day with steady rain into the "Poor" tier.
